Cement Placement

Well abandonments campaigns require zonal isolations which can be achieved with the aid of mechanical barriers and cement bases, such as CX-2 Bridge plugs, CX-SV cement retainers and the CX-IST. Coretrax also recognizes the need for optimizing cement integrity and have developed a range of aids to prevent cement disturbance, minimizing the risk of fluid contamination and channeling.

CX-2

The CX-2 provides a solid and tested base for a cement plug. It is a Hydro mechanically set bridge plug with no cumbersome mechanical running tool that must be drawn up through the setting cement.

The slick OD running tool can be pulled through the cement with minimum disturbance which other ways could result in contaminating wellbore fluids. Minimum disturbance also reduces the potential for channeling that could compromise the long-term integrity of a cement job.

CX-SV

The Coretrax CX-SV was developed to provide a cement retainer with the same benefits found when using the CX-2. The CX SV (sliding valve) also leaves a slick stinger when released from the plug. It can be stung back in to perform cement squeezes and pressure testing above and below the CX SV. No full gauge running tools in the string that have to be pulled through the ensuing cement plug.

CX-DB (Drillable brush)

The Coretrax Drillable brush can be run directly below a CX-2 bridge plug or CX-SV cement retainer, and cuts rig time by eliminating the need for a dedicated scraper run for preparing the bridge plug (or other packer setting areas)

By cleaning the bridge plug setting areas, and brushing the casing while running in, a better cement bond can be achieved due to reducing the risk of micro annuli

CX-Superflow

The CX Superflow is a fully sacrificial scraper brush combi tool that can be run on its own with a drop off sub or run as with the Drillable brush below a bridge plug or cement retainer. The combination of scraper blades with the technology of the Drillable Brush has given us a more robust solution for cleaning casing and preparing packer setting areas while running and setting a bridge plug or cement retainer.

CX-IST (Inflation support tool)

Cement placement in a well is critical for well abandonment, zonal isolation. The CX-IST can be deployed from the surface down the work string and inflated to provide a 100% seal between the tool and the casing wall or formation. One of the benefits of this tool is that it gives operators a positive indication that the cement will be set in the correct place. The CX-IST latches at the bottom of the work string using a pre-installed landing sub. Once latched, pump pressure inflates the elastomer to seal the wellbore. The IST is then released by simply picking up the work string. Numerous ISTs may be run through the same string that was used to run and set a CX-2 bridge plug, giving the option of multiple cement bases on a single run in hole.
