Inflation Support Tool

The CX-IST inflation support tool improves the cement placement and significantly reduces rig time. With innovative technology it breaks new ground within the oil and gas industry.

Cement placement in well is critical for construction and decommissioning. The CX-IST can be deployed from the surface down the work string and inflated to provide a 100% seal between the tool and the casing wall or formation. One of the benefits of this tool is that it gives operators a positive indication that the cement will be set in the correct place.

The CX-IST latches at the bottom of the work string using a pre-installed landing sub. Once secure, pump pressure inflates the elastomer to seal the wellbore. The IST is then released by simply picking up the work string.

The tool creates a 100% wall-to-wall base for well fluid or cement. As the same landing sub can be used several times, the operator can deploy as many ISTs as needed in the same or multiple zones.

Drillable Brushes

The Coretrax drillable brush is directly attached to the cement retainer or bridge plug to clean and prepare tool setting areas and save significant run time.

Setting a bridge plug successfully requires a clean area. To achieve this, some operators scrape the setting area before running the plug, which requires an additional trip in and out of the hole. By installing a drillable brush at the bottom of the CX-2™ bridge plug, the brushing can be done in the same run as the plug setting, saving the additional run.

  • Features/Benefits

    • Drillable alloy body
    • Attaches to any drillable tools on DP or tubing
    • Swivel connector with optional "torque free" or "locked" configuration
    • Fluid is directed through the sleeve to help cleaning
    • Available in sizes from 4½" to 20"

CX Mech MACS

The Mech MACS improves annular velocities and circulation rates without compromising pressures in the well, allowing circulation improvement and boosting wellbore cleaning capabilities.

Wellbore cleanliness is paramount at any stage of the life of a well as build-up of solids compromises access to the well, increasing rig time due to stuck pipe and creates the risk of solids contamination of the reservoir that leads to decreased productivity. However, achieving the correct annular velocities in the wellbore during clean-up can be challenging due to geometry, surface pressure limitations or presence of tools in the string that can limit pumping capacities.

The Mech MACS is a circulation tool that can be used for multiple applications including clean-up or drilling operations to improve circulation and assist with hole cleaning. It is the ideal tool for those wells where geometry creates the risk of solids accumulation that can be detrimental to operations. Once opened, the device allows higher annular velocities to be achieved without compromising pressures, allowing turbulent flow to significantly improve solids removal.

The tool has two primary positions: open and closed. In the open divert mode the collets are pulled into the stroke closed position closing off the lower string preventing the well pressure or under balanced fluid from returning up the work string and allowing circulation through the ports.

In the closed position the collets are pulled into the stroke open position directing the flow from the drill pipe to the annulus via the bit and preventing back pressure. Once the CX-MFFSD has been sheared out, it can be easily opened and closed multiple times by applying weight from the surface to activate the positioning sleeve making it reliable and simple to use.

  • Features/Benefits

    • Mechanical force means no time spent circulating a ball downhole
    • Compatible with all standard clean-up strings
    • Allows rotation of entire string
    • Can be part of a complete wellbore clean-up system
    • Can be part of the drill string
    • Allows milling or drilling with tool in string to take place
    • Can be shifted from stroked-open to closed position multiple times
    • Prevents back pressure

CX-Hydro MACS

The CX-Hydro MACS improves annular velocities and circulation rates without compromising pressures in the well, allowing circulation improvement and boosting wellbore cleaning capabilities.

The Hydro MACS is a circulation tool that can be used for multiple applications including clean-up or drilling operations to improve circulation and assist with hole cleaning. It is the ideal tool for those wells where deviation and geometry create the risk of solids accumulation that can be detrimental to operations.

The Hydro MACS can be easily opened and closed multiple times by dropping balls from the surface to activate the positioning sleeve making it reliable and simple to use.

  • Features/Benefits

    • The tool doesn't rely on sit down weight so it is easy to use and reliable
    • Compatible with all standard clean-up strings
    • Compatible with large inner bore for passage of setting balls (diverter subs)
    • Allows rotation of entire string
    • Can be part of a complete wellbore clean-up system
    • Can be part of the drill string
    • Allows milling or drilling with tool in string to take place
    • Can be shifted from stroked-open to closed position multiple times
    • Prevents back pressure

CX-Ball

Following cementing operations residual cement, drilling fluid or debris is often found in the drill pipe or tubing. This can present a risk of contamination during future cement jobs and if left in the bore of the drill pipe it can result in corrosion and permanent damage of the drill pipe. Conventionally a foam wiper ball is used to clean the internal diameters of the drill pipe or tubing however loading the large OD foam wiper ball into the drill pipe at surface can be a difficult and time consuming task.

The Coretrax CX-Ball provides a simple solution with the CX-Ball launchers arriving offshore, pre-loaded and ready to use. To launch the CX-Ball simply remove the cap, place the launcher in the box connection of the drill pipe and compress the plunger to release the ball. The standard Coretrax foam wiper balls are made of natural rubber with a high parting stretch allowing them to pass intact through small restrictions. These balls are compressed and wrapped in a soluble film before being loaded into the recyclable launchers. Within a minute of deployment the soluble film dissolves allowing the foam wiper ball to expand to its original form effectively wiping the ID as it is pumped down the drill pipe.

The use of the CX-Ball significantly reduces the deployment time associated with loading foam wiper balls and can present time savings in excess of 10 minutes per application, simultaneously reducing the exposure of the rig crew to any OBM or hazardous drilling fluids present in the drill string.
